About this Site

This site is designed to provide tools and resources for parents of infants and toddlers in five main subject areas: Development, Language & Literacy, Guidance, Resilience, and Exceptional Children. Each page has 3 or more resources on it, making a total of 30 resources for families to use. I incorporated the Competencies for Early Childhood Professionals: Virginia’s Early Childhood Development Alignment Project into this site.

Under Competency II, Understanding Child Growth & Development, I understand that children grow and develop at different rates, and by having a tracker and access to the developmental milestones, I am giving my parents access to what I am seeing in the classroom in their own homes.  I also provide websites that have home screening for any potential developmental issue we may come across.

Under Competency IV, Partnership with Families & Community, with this site I provide access to resources in their immediate community, such as books to rent from the library, or family counselors. I also provide resources for children with allergies because many of my students have allergies or develop them. On this website, I also have a page that allows parents to leave comments or questions about the information here through which I can update and modify.

Under Competency VI, Effective Interactions, I provide ways to bring the classroom home by giving resources I use to make lesson plans available for parents to use with their children. Also through providing positive discipline tips and tools, so that hopefully myself and my parents are on the same page regarding their children.

These Competencies are important for any Early Childhood Professional, read more about them here.
